Iraq Withdrawal?

For those of you who think the withdrawal of troops from Iraq is going too slowly, think about this: the US still has about 34,000 troops in South Korea. Anybody who's seen M.A.S.H. knows how long ago that war ended...

Don't hold your breath.

Peace.

Hate Crimes Against Gays

We've got a nasty storm headed our way, so I wanted to ge this posted before we lose power.

According to the Southern Poverty Law Center hate crimes against gays are up again. Could this have anything to do with the right-wing diatribes against gay marriage? I don't get it. How does my lifestyle have anything to do with your marriage? Will someone please explain it to me?

Can you explain it to me without quoting the Bible? And if what the Bible says is your only argument, than how do you explain fat Christians? After all, gluttony is one of the seven deadly sins; homosexuality didn't even make the list. That sounds like it is way worse to be fat than to be gay.

Tell me again how my lifestyle is destroying your marriage. Unless your spouse is leaving you for another member of their own gender, your argument just doesn't hold water.

Storm's getting worse--gotta go.

Peace.

Commemorate Veteran's Day

Since today is Veteran's Day and I am a veteran (20 yrs USN) I thought I'd take a moment to honor my fellow veterans on their day. If you really want to honor a vet, do more than just say "thanks." You should make sure the soldiers and sailors have all the equipment they need and all the support they require to do their jobs, and are paid a decent living wage. Make sure your elected officials know how you feel.

Just don't do what the Republicans have done (I've found something to be outraged about:)

Just Stuff

I haven't blogged in a few days because I can't seem to focus on one particular topic. What with the outskirts of Paris burning, the other shoe of indictments not yet fallen (Rove is still being investigated) Democrats winning important elections, the Governator's propositions being defeated, Bush's popularity falling further (37% approval rating as of last count,) Kansas reverting to the 19th century in their Scopes monkey trial reprise, and gays & lesbians win some, lose some efforts, I just don't know where to begin.

Then there is all the proof the administration lied us into Iraq (as we always suspected,) Alito's track record, Bush claiming we don't torture at the same time Cheney is insisting we must be able to torture, another school shooting (here in TN,) the price of gas and windfall profits, ...what else? I guess I should just pick one.

As soon as I get outraged, I'll write again. Right now I'm just tired of it all. Stay tuned.
